Why Safari?
All it takes is to read an article on safari and thats it! The font is so crisp and easy to read that there is no way you’ll go back to any other browser.
Been hooked on to firefox for ages. Firefox is great for the ease of use, best bookmark manager and tabbed browsing is great. You still have tabbed browsing in safari but bookmark manager is absolute cr@p with no sorting feature whatsoever. RSS aggregator is pretty cool, took a while to figure it out though.
Had a go at Opera as well. Opera has good light weight email client built onto it. used it for a while after been on thunderbird for ages. But tell you what, nothing beats the good ol’ gmail interface. So back there.
About time!
its already more than a month into the new job. good bye singer n’ hello schneider electric. no more mucking around siemens/rockwell plcs, its all modicon/telemech. shud admit that its amazingly similar to the siemens platform. DOHHH, just been to the simpsons movie. pretty good. thats about it i guess…
How to fix RSLogix 5 Install issues
This a first for me - the installation craps out, doesn’t let you start it and neither does it let you uninstall! To make it worse it doesn’t let you uninstall either. The only message you get it you don’t have enough security clearance or whatever. Anyway to cut it short, this is what you do if it ever happened to you:
1. Download and unzip the application ‘Remove’ from http://www.mikasalonen.com/remove/?remove40. The 30-day free trial version is good enough. Remove is just a spruced up ‘add or remove programs’ found in windows.
2. Run the ‘remove.exe’ from the unzipped folder. This should open up the ‘remove’ application listing all the installed applications. The ones in red fonts are the broken link ones.
3. Go to ‘RSLogix 5 English’ under ‘Application names’ in the ‘Remove/Uninstall Programs’ tab.
4. As a last step before going ahead, try uninstalling by right clicking ‘RSLogix 5 English’ and selecting ‘Uninstall Application’. If you couldn’t do it from Add/Remove programs, i bet you couldn’t do it from here either.
5. Now that you still can’t uninstall, lets get down to business, shall we? Right click on ‘RSLogix 5 English’ again and click on ‘Modify’
6. If the ‘Uninstaller Location’ is ‘C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\Uninstaller\UnRSI.exe path=C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\Uninstaller\RSLogix5 -fUnRsi.ins’, its not gonna work ’cause if you dig deep enough you won’t find ‘UnRsi.ins’ under the specified location.
7. Now all you have to do is paste *C:\WINDOWS\uninst.exe -f”C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSUtil\System\DeIsL2.isu”* in the ‘Uninstaller Location’ This is the actual script which should be running to uninstall. Now try uninstalling and should do the trick.
8. Now install the RSLogix 5 with the install CD everything shud be sweet as…
This whole saga seemed to have atleast crapped my other two apps - simatic manager and Vijeo designer! Needed to reinstall both after this. Anyway take it easy drop in a line if you have issues. good luck

Why Team India should NOT go to Super 8
How wrong was I to think at the start of the world cup that it wud be an easy sailing for india/srilanka and westindies/pakistan towards supers 8! Pakistan is definitely out and India looking quite shaky with almost close to zero chance to winning against Srilanka and Bangladesh almost certain to win against bermuda. Eventhough it doesn’t look great for indian cricket, its definitely gonna be great in the long run to bring players/sponsoring companies/companies airing the game.
The money in the game has reached such an astronomical figures with the tv stations airing the game getting anally arrogant. The latest arrogance being the threat to stop airing their channels to groups more than 50 without paying more money! what the hell does that supposed to mean? lets see what happens with india being kicked out in the first round. not a freaking bloody soul wud wanna watch the game on tv even if its offered free! Also this would be a good opportunity to teach the hooligan fans to behave properly in defeat. It was ridiculous to read about the attack of players’ homes. thats just not on. Anyway lets see what this weekend games would bring us. Real sad about the pakistan coach, bob woolmer and their defeat.
Perhaps he can save Australian Cricket
Aussies whacked fair and square
What a game to wind the chappel-hadlee series!!! Kiwis whipped aussies third time in a row to grab the trophy. 347 to win and hitting 350 to finish it off. mate… what a game… McCullum - u legend! a great century by Mcmillan too…. wow… what a game. lemme freaking take a breather now!!! well done and lets wait for the whining from the aussies ![]()
Remote Desktop - Local printing
Most of the info on the web would just tell you check the ‘printer’ under ‘local resources’ tab of the remote desktop(RD) properties to print to your local printer from the RD connection. But lemme tell you that doing just that simple check box is not gonna get it working! So what are those?:
1. First and foremost you need to have the same printer driver installed in your RD server. If not, the server is not gonna magically pick the right driver matching the printer connected to the client!
2. This isn’t that common, but did trip me once. In some cases for printer port redirection, the printer port name has to start with COM, LPT or USB. This usually is the case if you have the printer connected directly to your computer. This won’t be the case if your local printer is a networked one whose port name would be starting as ‘IP’. So all you gotta do here is to manually redirect all the ports. An excellent article to fix this issue is given at the good ol’ microsoft support website here - RDP PRINT
I’m sure there heaps more of pitfalls to look out for. But this I believe should fix most of those… good luck…
